GCIFA has also been approved as a Gear Tag Supplier to the industry.

Tags for the following fisheries are available at or office:

LFA 31A Lobster
LFA 31B Lobster
LFA 29 Lobster
CFA 24 Crab (Snow Crab)
CBST Shrimp (Shrimp Trap)
Mar Crab Rock (Rock Crab)

Replacement Tag Policy

GCIFA can also provide replacement tags for all gear tags originally purchased from GCIFA

The replacement tag policy for Lobster Tags is on the one for one method up to 25 tags and a full set after 25 tags are required.
Lost gear will be required to have the number of the lost tag recorded to the tag supplier by the harvester in order to have a new tag issued.
Broken tags will be returned to tag supplier by the harvester for recording and replacement.
Full gear tag set replacement- the harvester will be required to return all recovered tags to the tag supplier for recording.
Documentation will be given to the harvester by the tag supplier as per DFOs fishing conditions tag replacement policy

The delivery standard for replacement tags will be within two business days by Canada Post or through personal delivery by GCIFA or pick-up at location 990 Union St. Canso, NS where possible. Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. GCIFA will only issue replacement tags to harvesters to whom they have issued original sets.
